How do I purchase Frayed Edge Press books?
Support small press by buying direct through this website! All of the "Buy Now" buttons on the pages here allow you add items to a Cart for secure online check-out. All major credit cards and PayPal are accepted, as well as Google Pay and Apple Pay. We also partner with Bookshop.org which will enable you to obtain our books at an independent bookstore near you. For many of our titles, ebook versions are available for Amazon Kindle, Apple iBooks, B&N Nook, Kobo, Smashwords, and other ebook platforms.
Do you provide wholesale pricing to the book trade?
Yes. If you are a bookstore or book jobber, please contact us for our wholesale terms and rates.
How do I get a desk copy of one of your books?
If you are considering using a Frayed Edge Press title for a class or study group, contact us with the specifics.
Authors FAQ
How do I submit a book proposal to Frayed Edge Press?
Read our Guidelines for information about what we publish. If your book falls within the guidelines for one of our book categories, please follow the directions given there and submit a proposal via the Query link. We are not accepting submissions at this time. Please follow us on social media for information regarding the next submission window.
Do I have to pay any fees to publish with Frayed Edge Press?
No. We are not a vanity press or hybrid publisher. We are a small independent publisher and do not charge authors any fees to publish with us.
What services does Frayed Edge Press provide to authors?
All books accepted for publication with our press are provided with professional editing, proofreading, and layout services. Cover design services are normally contracted for separately from professional artists/designers.
What sort of advance does Frayed Edge Press pay to authors?
We do not pay advances to our authors. As a small independent press, we pay authors and editors of books a percentage of post-sale profits only.
What percentage of profits does Frayed Edge Press offer to authors/editors of works you publish?
We pay authors/editors 35% of profits on print books and 50% profits on ebooks. We pay considerably higher percentages than traditional publishers, but we also have an expectation of labor-sharing for marketing and promotion efforts (see below) and cost-sharing when feasible.
What sort of marketing and promotion does Frayed Edge Press do for the books you publish?
We do marketing in partnership with our book authors and editors, and expect authors to be actively involved in the promotion of their work. Labor-sharing for marketing and promotion is required and cost-sharing is negotiable. Each book we publish has an individually tailored marketing plan created in consultation with the author/editor and may include a range of marketing efforts from social media promotion to paid advertising.
I have a book in progress but am not sure if it’s ready for publication. Can you provide feedback on my manuscript or provide editorial assistance?
We are not able to provide feedback on any works-in-progress or manuscripts not accepted by our press. If you are in need of editorial services for your manuscript, we suggest using the services of our partner company, Parlew Associates, or another reputable service provider.
